Why the United States should consider pulling out of the Paris climate agreement

By Tom MalinowMarch 22, 2018 11:20:03The U.S. will exit the landmark 2015 agreement to combat climate change at the end of the year unless Congress decides to re-negotiate the pact, a top State Department official said Friday.

The United States is expected to withdraw from the Paris agreement if the GOP-controlled House and Senate cannot agree on a final plan to combat global warming, said Heather Nauert, assistant secretary of state for political affairs.

Trump has said he plans to leave the agreement, which commits countries to a number of goals for cutting carbon emissions, by the end, if he is re-elected.
